FAQ - Abort of HES Tune Command

PRODUCTS > Laboratory > Support
Those who already use sequence commands in the MassHunter software, for example to routinely tune an MSD, may already be familiar with the error message "do_thor_tune" command could not be found once an HES source has been installed in the MSD and a TUNE command has been started from the sequence line. To tune an HES source, the correct syntax for the sequence keyword and other parameters is shown in the figure. Running this sequence produces the described macro error in MassHunter (tested under Rev. B.07.06). "Thor" here is Agilent's internal alias, for 5977 MSD series instruments with HES (High Emission Source) option. In contrast, a manually executed HES tune, for example from the Tune|View menu, works fine without error message.
The error is due to the fact that the order of macro execution differs between a manual call in the TUNE VIEW menu and that within a sequence. For sequence keywords, the required commands are loaded via the keywd7x.mac file and not directly from the actual definition file seqkeywd.mac. In this case, the code for the HES_ATUNE keyword is missing here for the former. The newly created macro command named HESautotune is therefore added to the seqkeywd.mac file under the HES_ATUNE keyword. The corresponding code blocks can be seen in the figures below.

Both macro files are located in the directory C:\gcms\msexe and can be opened and edited with Notepad as a normal text file, with the Windows standard editor. To save the changes, however, administrator rights are mandatory from Windows 7. To do this, press Start or <Windows Logo> key, enter notepad in the lower search field, right-click on notepad.exe and select Run as administrator. Under the menu item File|Open or key <Ctrl + O> open the file selection window, select the display all files *.* in the dropdown list and navigate to the*.mac files. Before changing or overwriting the original file, it is recommended to make a backup copy. Alternatively, you can download a zip archive (15 KB) with both macro files for MassHunter Rev. B.07.06 via the download button.
